Things to do in Puerto Morelos

Chichen Itza

The Mayan ruins of Chichen-Itza are almost 2000 years old and are located close to Merida. Tradition says people were occasionally thrown into the nearby cenote as sacrifices, and those who survived were believed to be seers.

El Castillo, is the primary pyramid at Chichen Itza. But, the area is split into three main sections. To the north the architecture is distinctly Toltec in style, while the center pyramids appear to be from an earlier period. "The Old Chichen," is in the South. Visitors can easily see all three sites in a day.
